Hello,
My name is Elijah (or Eli) and I use they/them pronouns. I am taking this class as one of my last two courses for a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy. I work full time as a Psychiatric Behavior Specialist, providing clinical supports for intensive residential programs serving adults with severe psychiatric conditions (mostly schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders). After I get my diploma at the end of this summer, I plan to apply for graduate programs in Art Therapy, Social Work, and Mental Health Counseling so that I can continue working towards becoming a licensed clinician. I struggle to find time and energy for artistic pursuits because of how demanding my job is, but I enjoy drawing, painting, ceramics, and playing violin or ukulele when I can make space for it. I look forward to one of my last undergrad courses being something that utilizes the artistic parts of my brain rather than the parts that I use for work. I am using an iPhone 13 mini to take my photos for this class, which is what my selfie was taken with (pardon the car selfie, I spend too much time in the car!).

Welcome Elijah! I am so impressed with your current job and your desire to continue along the path of helping those with sever mental health challenges. The iPhone 13 has a great camera and will help make the class go more smoothly for you. The car selfie is a great example. A regular DSLR would struggle with the huge dynamic range of the shot, from the dark seat to the sky coming through the windows... The HDR ability of that phone, takes multiple shots and puts them together to expand the dynamic range of the sensor.
