For my photos this week, I visited Harpers Ferry National Park in West Virginia and shot along the river. While editing, I focused on using the levels within Photoshop. I chose a fairly overcast day to shoot as I thought it would allow me to highlight the water the best, however, the white clouds did provide challenges to editing.
When I was visiting, I was struck by the amount of garbage strewn about. Any items seen within my photographs are litter, shot as found.
Levels: I captured water, sky, mountain, man and his constructions within one photo (a naturalistic "Where's Waldo").
Water: Essential and undervalued in all forms.
Friends Supporting Friends: I wonder what gap they are bridging.
Hush: The tiny bird rests on the rock within the vastness of the river (a vulnerable position), almost invisible due to it's camouflage.
Compass: I like how many lines are within this image, especially as the plants grow in different directions.
Fractals
Fractals 2: I also edited this photograph to B/W as I was particularly interested in the shape of the shadows.
Narcissus: The reflective ability of the water was best highlighted through this image where the sky is more visible through it's reflection (something that is both poetic and existential).

You chose a beautiful location for this assignment. When editing, I first ask, "where is the focal point?" Then I try to bring light to that area with feathered selections and the levels tool. The sky is always a challenge as it has so much more light and draws the eye of the viewer to it and away from the focal point of the picture. I love your titles and captions...
