The Digital Dog Portrait

For this assignment, I had planned on photographing my relatives. However, each prospective sitter ran into medical issues this week. As my plans were derailed, my sitter became my dog, Melon. She enjoys looking out windows and knows a command to look at me which was very useful, but I ran into issues. The split coloring of her face caused problems for my photos. Despite my use of a white duvet to reflect the light onto the darker side of her face, it was hard to find a good balance of light and dark. Another issue was the space next to the window, as I needed to be an adequate distance away for my DSLR to focus on her.
