Week 3 - Water

These photos were taken in Milford at Walnut Beach.  I ventured off the boardwalk to find a different angle of the sand and water.  I shot mostly in black and white, but enjoyed the green color of the algae in the last 2 pictures.  Editing consisted mostly of free transform to straighten, then adjusting levels, brightness and contrast.  This assignment provided me with a little break from chasing my kids around.  It was nice to take some time for myself to just look at the water.

In the above 2 pictures, I enjoy how the perspective makes the rocks look bigger than they really are.  I lightened the center rock in the second picture in an attempt to make it the focal point.

A seagull can be seen in the distance of the above picture.  I feel that was a nice moment that I wanted to try and work with.

The green might be a bit oversaturated in the above pictures, but I like that it pops a bit.  I attempted to darken the edge of the final picture to make the reflection on the water stand out.

  1. I love these, Kim. For starters, taking time for yourself and really connect with this environment is very restorative. You discovered a fresh perspective then used the editing tools to bring your vision to fruition. This a great example of everything I hope for my students with this assignment.
